Kidneys For Sale

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/09/01/blackmarket.organs/index.html

Nick Rosen a young man in financial need responded to a news paper ad asking for kidney donors. Next thing he knew, he was on a plane to New York. He had his surgery, made twenty grand and flew home. He told CNN that all he had to do was lie to the doctors about his reasoning for the donation. The medical staff at this hospital said that they do not give lie detector test to their patients to find out if they are selling their organs or not, they are doctors not police investigators.

My initial response to this article was, I can’t believe this really goes on! I can see organ trafficking going on in small underdeveloped countries, but not in the United States. It is really hard to believe that there is such a thing as organ brokers in the U.S. What kind of person could do that for a living?

Where I grew up I think this is a very unethical decision. Where did this guy get his morals from? He states that is was no big deal to lie to the doctors. Personally, I think it’s a big deal. Lying to anyone is very unethical, especially in medicine. I’m sure that those doctors had a clue what was going on.

In conclusion, if you’re in need of some extra cash, you can forgo the plasma donation and head straight toward kidney donation! Unfortunately there might be a few consequences with this type of money making scam. Use your best judgement.

  1. Organ donating sounds a bit extreme it is called get a job, go to school and get a better job. But don't sell what the good Lord gave you as a gift. Why not in the U.S. we are no different and our morrals recently shows not much of a difference then other countries. Maybe we are not quite as poor but we are as indebt. U.S. is not exempt from being any different then Africa, Asia, or South America, we all fail including the great U S of A. I am with you something like selling your kidney is immoral but there are people that sell their bodies on street corners, I guess one isn't much different then the other huh? Good story, and well written.
